Finally – The Reveal – 11/22/16

Can you guess what I’m going to talk about?

If you guessed What J.L. had for breakfast this morning, then I’m sorry to say that you’re wrong.

I know I’ve been talking a lot about it lately, but I’m finally able to reveal a bit more information about the anthology.

It’s been difficult to contain my excitement; it’s ravenous and barely held in check. Writing for this anthology has been so much fun. I’ll gladly write another submission in the future. My personal submission “The Princess of Alantilus” will be featured in the writing group’s first anthology on December 7th, 2016.

The Anthology, From the Stories of Old: A Collection of Fairytale Retellings, will be available soon on Amazon in ebook and paperback formats. Prices and other impertinent ordering information will follow!

At first, I was apprehensive about writing a Fairytale retelling because if I’m being honest–they’re not my most favorite story to write. And here on Terraform, we’re all about honesty. As I update and add content to the website, you’ll find a lot of Science Fiction hidden in the folds of the blog.

But, I decided to stay and was urged on by the wonderfully supportive members of the Just-Us League. I have to say that the end result surprised me more than anything. I actually liked what I had written; I might have even loved it.

But you know what was really satisfying?

A heaping plate of chicken casserole, stuffing and smoked turkey slathered in gravy and topped with steaming-hot yeast rolls. Oh, sorry–I’ve got Thanksgiving on the brain.

In all seriousness, I’m extremely proud to have worked with the multi-talented members of this writing group, The Just-Us League. Together we have created a memorable experience and manifested our raw efforts into a compelling tome of fantasy.

It was and still is amazing to see each hurdle we surpassed as a group and the blood, sweat, and tears that went into the writing, the critiques, the editing, and most of all the ORGANIZATION of it all.

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS TIME TO PERSONALLY THANK HEATHER HAYDEN FOR HER TIRELESS EFFORTS IN KEEPING ALL OF US SCRIBS FOCUSED, HAPPY, AND ON TASK. YOUR PATIENCE, PROFESSIONALISM, AND INTENSE STRUCTURE ARE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. THANK YOU SO MUCH (QUEEN BEE), AND I CAN’T WAIT TO WORK WITH YOU AGAIN!

KEEP THOSE SURVEYS COMING!

(WHEW!) Well, all right. Let’s get to that cover reveal, shall we?

Isn’t this Cover Art amazing? Unique? It encompasses the Anthology’s theme perfectly!

Take a look at that! It’s beautiful, and I can’t wait to see it go up online in all its official capacity.

We have Louis Rakovich of Indigo Forest Designs to thank for this. I’m pleased with stunning artwork.

Give Louis a round of applause–he’s definitely deserved it

If you’d like to see more of Louis’ work, feel free to check out his portfolio on the website here.

Here’s the back cover blurb for all your perusing needs!

In this international collection, new life is given to fairy tales, both classic and obscure.

Mythical creatures put the fairy in Fairy Tale. Mermaids, selkies, and ocean guardians experience the best and worst of humanity; sisters encounter an unusually friendly bear; a brave bride meets a silly goose, and a spinner of gold sets the record straight.

Urban fantasies modernize classics: a Frenchman learns the truth about magic, his past, and his girlfriend; a girl sets out to find love but receives a curse, and today’s naughty list makes Old Saint Nick not-so-jolly.

New worlds bring a fresh sense of wonder! In the future, a young woman fights for her people and herself; a bastard son finds acceptance in a world ruled by women, and a farmer’s wits win the heart of a frosty king.

Discover unexpected twists on old favorites, and fall in love with new tales and worlds to explore!

Thank you for tuning in and remember December 7th, 2016.

Mark it on your calendar–I’m serious!
