Rough Pages Post #2 – 9/21/17

Hello, Wordsmiths! If this is your first time on Terraform, WELCOMEif not–then thanks for joining me again.

Today is just another shoutout for my Patreon page, The Write Nerd; so far it’s been a blast posting every day of the week. If at all possible, I’d like to post at least four times a week depending on my work schedule, baby duty, family time, and writing time.

It’s a huge expectation that’s for sure! I know that some writers don’t have near enough time to themselves and sometimes I can’t find the time either. All I can say is that I’m blessed to have as much time as I do have.

Right. Let me bring things back to the reason why I’m posting today…another Rough Pages post on my Patreon page. It’s a continuation of my first Rough Pages post; however, with a small difference.

To read it, one must sign up for a pledge amount. I’ve decided to keep some information I post Public and some information for Patrons and Pledges ONLY. Naturally, I think that’s the way of things.

Here’s the link to the post!

As always, comments and questions are welcome here!

In A Nutshell #20 – Denial

I’d like to take this time to mention that lately all of my post ideas for In A Nutshell are from a blog called the Daily Post. The one-word prompts posted on there, inspire me to write my pieces. It’s amazing what one word can do or what you can do with one word.

Denial is safe.

It’s both wrong and right.

It provides shelter from responsibility.

And it blinds one from the truth.

Denial is safe.

It gives you the power to avoid painful situations.

It keeps people from expecting too much from you.

And you never have to face the music.

Denial is safe.

Denial is so easy to catch.

Yet, so hard to get rid of.

And once that happens, you’ll cling to it like a drug.

Denial is safe.

It will clog the air you breathe like a poisonous miasma.

And soon, you won’t even realize it’s become a part of you.

Until it changes you from the inside out and you no longer recognize yourself.

Denial is dangerous.

Super Secret Project #2 – 12/30/16

Truly and honestly, my lips are sealed. You can’t make me say anything about this Super Secret Project I’m working on.

I won’t say a word.

Well…all right, maybe a few words.

It’s about Superheroes!

That’s all you get.

This was just a teaser. A really vague teaser. I’ll talk about it more in the coming weeks and months. Thanks for tuning in!

Musings upon a Story

Very interesting post. Rings true with a lot of writers, I think. Even if I can’t publish, but can still write a story that does this, I’ll be satisfied.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it means to have talent, to have purpose, to have a remarkable voice as a writer. In short, I’ve been asking myself why I write. And the truth? I don’t have a definitive answer. I enjoy writing; I derive an immense satisfaction from constructing worlds and setting down the roots of characters who will grow into memorable people. But I think being a true, worthwhile writer involves more than those pursuits.

Sometimes, I worry I simply don’t have anything to say, anything that thunders inside my brain and roars to explode onto paper with the very necessity of existing.

In short, I don’t speak great truths.

Which is fine. I suppose. But I’m asking you, my readers, to spend time on creations which I fear are half-formed and internally shallow. I want the worlds I craft to resonate in the reader’s blood and…
